Opening Bell Market Update — March 2, 2011

Equity futures are pointing higher this morning with the Dow Jones Industrial Average looking to open 15 points higher while the broader S&P500 index is looking to open over 2 points higher. Moving fast in the pre-market session are shares of Royale Energy up over 8% on rising crude oil prices. Shares of Hudson City Bancorp are down over 3% after Jim Cramer said the stock lacks growth on ‘Mad Money’; shares of MetLife are down over 5% as AIG looks to speed up the sale of the company’s shares; and shares of Weatherford International are down over 15% after the company filed to delay its 10-K, citing weak internal controls over reporting for income taxes, and said it needs more time to conduct added testing on tax accounts. BJ’s Wholesale Club (NYSE:BJ) reported Q4 EPS of .95, ex-items, ahead of consensus estimates of .92 per share. Revenues for the quarter rose 7% year-over-year to .90 billion, missing consensus estimates of .98 billion.
