We have gown accustomed to fast fashion for our wardrobes; updating our look with new accessories, even learning to customize our clothes to keep up with the latest trends. Most of all we have learn to be bold, to experiment with new styles and to have fun with fashion. Unfortunately our homes have lagged behind. We have been content to look at the same four walls and tired furniture and have shied away from change. Maybe it is because the cost of redecoration is so expensive. Who can justify new furniture every year to keep up with trends? Well now you don’t have to – fast fashion for our homes is here and the name for it is Wall Stickers.
So what are they? They are precision cut from vinyl, self-adhesive, easy to apply and remove and very good value. What do they look like? The vinyl is very thin and usually has a matte finish so it looks just like the graphic has been painted on to your wall. They are applied in the same way that a transfer or temporary tattoo would be applied to your arm. Anyone can do it, so no expensive labour is required. Best of all the choice of designs is enormous. There is something for everyone and for every room in the house.
So what is fashionable right now? Several trends are at the forefront this year. For a dramatic effect we love some of the huge designs available. Why not cover a wall with a Birch Forest? For a fraction of the cost of using the very fashionable tree wallpapers on the market right now you could get the same look with wall transfers. Stag’s heads have been everywhere in high fashion interiors this year and again this look can be emulated using wall decals.
For the kitchen there are some cute graphics such as trompe l’oeuil of shelves and mugs. For bathrooms you can buy repeating patterns to add to plain white tiles. For the nursery there are some beautiful choices – forget Disney and go for something timeless like children on a swing. Why not add a hatstand to your hallway or a chandelier to your dining room? The choices really are endless.
Large format stickers are great for making a big impact on a low budget. Something that would cover a feature wall can cost as little as £75.00. For something that adds a quirky detail rather than dominating the space the cost is considerably less.
If you are wondering why you haven’t come across them on the high street I’m sure this will change soon as retailers take their cue from the internet. In the meantime just search for wall stickers online and you will find an array of gorgeous products to make your home as fashionable as you.

Thermostat
A thermostat is a valve between the engine and the radiator and ensures the engine stays at its ideal temperature.
When you start the engine the thermostat will be closed so that the engine warms up faster. When the engine is about to reach its optimal temperature, the thermostat will then allow the coolant to circulate through the radiator (to reduce its temperature) and ensure that the engine doesn’t overheat.
It might be an inexpensive part but its role is of major importance.
Excessive cooling
With an open thermostat or without a thermostat (yes, some people run their car without the thermostat, which is very WRONG) you would have excessive cooling all the time and your engine wouldn’t work at its optimal temperature. This would lead to less performance, lower fuel economy and higher emissions, and the oil wouldn’t be hot enough to work at its best. Your spark plugs would also deteriorate faster and the engine’s internals would suffer increased wear.
If you face cold weather difficulties increase. And when you turn on the cockpit heater the coolant temperature needle will probably go all the way down, unable to provide comfortable temperature in the cabin.
This isn’t adequate and far from preserving your engine’s health and efficiency.
Overheating
The contrary problem is if the thermostat doesn’t allow enough cooling. Using a thermostat that does not open fully or doesn’t even open means the engine will be working at higher temperature than adequate. That can lead to head gasket problems and having your engine open for repair. But that’s not all; eventually, it can overheat and damage your engine beyond repair.
Noticing a faulty thermostat
The coolant temperature gauge will be of great help. Don’t think it is very reliable and precise, it’s not. But if the thermostat isn’t working well in to a significant extent, you can notice it on the gauge.
If it is allowing excessive cooling, you can sometimes notice the needle moving down. That happens when you turn on the cabin heater and when you go for several seconds in gear at a moderate speed without pressing the accelerator. Because the car engine is barely burning any fuel, the heat generated will be much reduced and the thermostat will cause the engine to fall below its optimum temperature. This is very likely to occur in winter months although you can notice it during summer also (remember that air conditioning will add more fuel to the engine and makes it more difficult to spot it).
The opposite situation is when the indicator rises above where it normally stands. You can also notice the radiator fan being used more frequently. In extreme cases the expansion tank might allow some coolant to be expelled; that will look like smoke coming from under the hood. That’s because the expansion tank’s cap has a valve that will open slightly when submitted to high pressure. Since the coolant system is a closed circuit, the pressure will build up if temperature goes beyond desirable.
But don’t get worried if the fan turns on during summer, especially at low speeds when there is little air entering the engine compartment. It’s normal and very likely to happen. And if the temperature indicator stays at its normal position, there’s probably no need to worry.
It’s a good procedure to check your coolant level regularly.
If you change your thermostat and your coolant and things still don’t look good, it can be a faulty temperature sensor.

The stock market is amazingly resilient. You might be surprised at how fast the stock market can change … for the better. Let’s look at how the market has recovered remarkably – and quickly – from some notable downturns.
2008-2009. The collapse of the subprime mortgage markets triggered a recession and made 2008 the poorest year for stocks since 1931. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 10% in June 2008 and fell 10% again in October 2008, losing 19.12% for the year. On March 9, 2009, the major U.S. indices closed at 12-year lows with the S&P 500 at 676.53.1,2,3
Then the market took off. Investors who swore off stocks in early 2009 lost out on one of the great rallies. From the March 9 lows to the end of 2009, the S&P 500 soared 64.83% while the NASDAQ gained 78.87% and the Dow gained 59.28%.4
2001-2002. After the four-day closure of the stock market following 9/11, the Dow fell 685 points to 8,920 on September 17. It kept falling, losing 14.26% in a week to close at 8,235 on September 21. But what happened next? A huge gain. The Dow closed 2001 at 10,021 – a 21% rebound in less than three months.5
There were more challenges ahead. On October 9, 2002, the Dow had fallen to 7,286. But on Halloween, the Dow sat at 8,397 – a 10.6% gain in 22 days.5
As for the people who panicked and bailed out of the stock market, they ended up kicking themselves: in 2003, the DJIA gained 25.3%, the S&P 500 26.4%, and the NASDAQ 50%.6
1987. October 19 was Black Monday: in a contagion of selling exacerbated by unchecked computer technology, the Dow lost 22.6% in one day, falling to 1,738, a 508-point loss.7 (That would be akin to a 2,400-point one-day drop today.) The S&P 500 lost 20.4%.8 By comparison, the initial “Black Monday”, the stock market crash of 1929, represented a 12.8% market loss.9
Then the recovery kicked in. During the next two trading days, the Dow gained nearly 300 points – and it closed 1987 at 1,939, gaining back all of the loss and ending up 2% for the year.10 By January 1990, the DJIA was at 2,800.11
If you were fortunate enough to invest ,000 in the S&P 500 index at the close of Black Monday and reinvested your dividends, you would have wound up with about ,800 20 years later.7 If you had invested in the Dow stocks a week before Black Monday, you would have lost 30% on your investment in the crash … but if you held on, your investment would have gained 462% over the next 20 years.10
1974. With investors fretting over rising inflation and the energy crisis, the Dow loses 30% of its value during the first three quarters of the year. Suddenly, the Dow gains 16% in October.12 In early December 1974, the Dow is at 577; in July 1976, it hits 1,011.5
So while the Dow, S&P and NASDAQ have been through some rough periods (and even a poor decade), the important thing is how they have climbed historically.
On August 12, 1982, the Dow was at 777. On January 14, 2000, it was at 11,722.98. That’s a 1,500% gain in 17½ years.13 This is why people stay in the market through the downturns. This is what the market is capable of achieving. There are periodic descents, but history is definitely on an investor’s side.

It is a totally free way to make money and you get a checking account out of the deal. That’s not bad money for 15 minutes of your time, which is about what it takes to complete the application on the bank’s website.
Do you know how to make backgrounds for Myspace or Twitter? They are very popular and people pay money for professional looking backgrounds. It is also a way for you to show your graphics and talent if you want to do graphic art on the side. You can make money and if you are good at it, you can begin an Internet business in order to get private clients and really make good money full time.
Finally, if you are good with graphics, you can also make money by creating logos for other. People use logos for their businesses and they are always looking for freelancers that charge a reasonable fee. You can make a lot of money if you are good, charge a reasonable fee, and have a quick turn around time. Lastly, you can explore other ways to make money and build an Internet business for no out of pocket money on your part, unless you have your website designed by someone else. It is easy to earn a full time living online or make extra money when you know what people want and use your talents.
