Adams Golf (NASDAQ:ADGF): Showing Positive Technical Picture

Edit Article |

Starting in mid July the price of Adams made an important bottom, and if you are a technician you look for signals in price action, volume and pattern recognition.  Golf sales at companies like Adams probably are a good indicator if you are monitoring consumer demand for the general economy.  Adams has about in cash on the balance sheets and is trading under book value current based on my calculations so I am keeping an eye on them.

Adams Golf, Inc., through its subsidiaries, engages in the design, assembly, marketing, and distribution of golf clubs and accessories for various skill levels in the United States. The companys products include the Idea a3 and a3 OS I-woods and irons, the Tight Lies family of fairway woods, and the Puglielli series of wedges. The companys products also comprise Idea a7 and a7 OS irons and hybrids, Speedline Fast 10 and Speedline 9032 drivers, Speedline Fast 10 hybrid fairway woods, Idea Pro Black I-woods and irons, Idea Tech a4 and a4 OS I-woods and irons, Idea Pro Gold I-woods and irons, and Insight Tech a4 and a4 OS drivers and hybrid-fairway woods. It also offers the Tom Watson signature wedges and the Puglielli wedges; and a line of golf bags, hats, and other accessories. Adams Golf, Inc. sells its products through golf shops, sporting goods retailers, and mass merchants, as well as through international distributors in Europe, Canada, South Africa, Japan, and other Asian regions. The company was founded in 1987 and is based in Plano, Texas.

Adams Golf focuses on developing high-performance and technologically innovative golf products. On May 11, the company released its first quarter 2010 results. It reported a 5% decrease in net sales compared to the 3 months ended March 31, 2009, but had an overall higher net profit (.7 million) than the previous year (.4million). The company had open orders totaling .1 million at the end of the quarter as compared to open orders of .3 million at the same point in 2009. Chip Brewer, CEO and President of Adams Golf, commented that “we believe this increase in open orders is primarily a result of more forward looking planning by select retailers as well as delays in product availability from various vendors. We expect the product availability delays to be resolved during the current quarter.”

The company has experienced significant growth in U.S. market shares. They have been energized with the market response to their current product offerings. One of its newest products, the Speedline Fast 10 drivers, has reduced drag by 10% throughout the swing for a faster club head speed that generates more distance (an additional 15 yeards of carry distance) than previous driver models. According to Golf Datatech LLC, their U.S. iron dollar share was 11.96%, up 21% year over year for the first quarter of 2010. The wood dollar share was 6.53%, up 11% year over year. Furthermore, in March 2010, the Idea A7OS iron set was the #1 selling model of irons in the U.S. Through increased tour exposure, Adams has continued to strengthen its brand and sustained its position as the #1 hybrid on the PGA, Nationwide and Champions tours. Brewer comments that “we are encouraged with the progress we have made in both the product and brad side of the business as well as the improved financial results.”

Why Agriculture And Solar Sectors Are Strong

Why would these sectors be so strong in the face of the markets third consecutive sell off? The answer is simple. The most common trade I see among novice investors is a set up that envisions the price action “bouncing” off an existing support or resistance lines. Identifying patterns

Indicators are used for identifying patterns from all the ups and downs of the forex market. In any case, indicators get the raw market data feed, and spit out probable trading scenarios. Just remember that they are not instruments for predicting the forex market. We use them to possibly identify opportunities which we could use to our advantage. The indicators must be used with an appropriate money management strategy (which is probably the most important thing in forex trading on margin).

Golfsmith International Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: GOLF) M (MarketCap) Big Preperations for Daddy-Day

Here’s an interesting idea: find a company who sells a variety of products associated with an ever-increasingly popular game that can be enjoyed by both genders at virtually any age; an industry that has influenced pop culture and whose star champions’ are household names; with a decorated history that proves industry and growth is only sustaining and gaining rather than perishing. I’m talking about the game of golf and the companies who supply the necessary goods and equipment that players and fans are consuming today more than ever. Goldsmith is one of those companies, operating as a specialty retailer of golf and tennis equipment, apparel, footwear, and accessories through 74 store locations in 19 states, also offering catalog and internet sales channels. The storefront also provides club repair services, as well as tennis equipment, and tennis racquet maintenance and repair services. In addition, Golfsmith develops and promotes proprietary merchandise, including clubs, club components, apparel, golf bags and covers, pull and push carts, shoes, furnishings, accessories, training aids, and gifts. Can dad ever really get enough golf?

Goldsmith doesn’t seem to think so. The company is preparing to sell in excess of 2M golf balls, 150K golf clubs of all makes and models, 30K hats, and 60K golf t-shirts during the weeks leading up to Father’s Day on June 20th, 2010. So how much could Golfsmith bring in this Father’s Day?

Net revenues for the second quarter 2009 (this time last year) were 5M, down from 0M in 2008.
Net revenues for the first quarter of 2009 were M; net revenues were M for the first quarter of 2010.

Net revenues rocketed about 67% between the first and the second quarter of 2009. On July 28th- 30th of 2009, after second quarter earnings were released, Golfsmith’s stock priced jumped 27%, and began a flat-to-steady trend upwards to today’s closing price of .40 per share.

Why Agriculture And Solar Sectors Are Strong

The markets are lower today but some sectors remain strong. The agriculture and solar sectors are particularly strong in an otherwise dismal market. Why would these sectors be so strong in the face of the markets third consecutive sell off? The answer is simple. While oil has run up and people fear the demand for goods and services may diminish, individuals still have to eat. As the worlds population continues to grow, people will continue to require food

Oil Fades As Panic Subsides

Fear and panic have driven the oil market sharply higher over the last few days. Just last week crude oil was trading at per barrel. Overnight, spot crude hit 3.00 per barrel. This massive spike was all on the back of unrest in the Middle East. Libya is now in what appears to be a civil war but the biggest fear on Wall Street is whether or not it would spread to Saudi Arabia. There have been rumors, panic and much more but as of now, it seems it is subsiding. After hitting 3.00 overnig

More E-Mini Trading Setups with Support and Resistance

The most common trade I see among novice investors is a set up that envisions the price action “bouncing” off an existing support or resistance lines. There are many versions of this particular trade, and it is not unusual to see small investors implement this trade over and over. This set up often results in a loss.

Expected Pullback after Monday Gap Open

When markets gap around they get natural retracements creating volatility and if you look at a simple 5 day chart you can spot likely retracements. An example is yesterdays gap higher and todays pullback which will likely test the area it gapped from. News becomes irrelevant and pricing takes over as valuation becomes a confusing exercise making it best to trudge through the summer and its earnings quarter.

Adams Golf (NASDAQ:ADGF): Ryder Cup Stocks

Edit Article |

Tom Watson uses Adams Clubs and has been the marketing face for them for 10 years now. If you look closely at the price action the stock made a bottom into the 2009 July British Open at Turnberry when he painfully lost to Stewart Cink.  Now with the Ryder Cup upon us from Wales it may be time to look again at Sports Stocks.

Adams Golf (NASDAQ:ADGF) had an increase in volume and awareness on the back of Watson’s loss. In retrospect the British Open loss was small compared to other events and if you ask Tom, it had nothing to do with his clubs… he will tell you that the toughest yardage on the Golf Course is the 6 inches between your ears.

I met Tom a few times because I was friend of Bruce Edwards. Bruce would stay at my house for PGA Tournaments in Chicago and we would go to White Sox and Cub games with friends so he could get away from Golf and relax. My kids would sit on his lap in the living room and taunt him with the remote control…those were good days.

Bruce was caddying for Greg Norman at the time and was contemplating leaving the Shark to go back to Watson after Norman bitched him out for a wrong yardage one too many times. I recall Tom and Bruce sitting at a corner table in a restaurant working out a plan for Bruce to work with Watson again. I was sad when Bruce Edwards died…he was a great man and I miss him. But back to Adams.

Club making and marketing in this down economic cycle is tricky. The Club I belong to has seen an obvious decline in membership and family’s leave these Private Clubs and do more things at home; it’s called “cabin fever spending”. It makes more sense that people spend their money at Lowes and Home Depot than on Country Clubs and Golf Clubs.

Adams still trades thin and needs a good marketing campaign for the stock itself… but 2010 probably is the most important year since inception.

Like the rest of the stock market …Adams has had a steep decline (70%) in MarketCap since its high on Feb 11th 2008 (.12).

Funeral Home Loans and Golf Course Financing

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Funeral Home Loans and Golf Course Financing

Golf course loans and funeral home financing provide a particularly challenging set of circumstances for both refinancing and purchases. For most small business loan programs involving specialized properties like funeral homes and golf courses, the prevailing chaotic bank lending climate has made a bad situation even worse. These specialized businesses are among the most difficult small business finance situations for commercial borrowers.

Buying or refinancing a golf course or funeral home is usually difficult to finalize. Funeral home financing and golf course financing involve problems not found in most commercial loan situations. Refinancing for both of these business categories is likely to be more complicated than the original business financing for purchase.

Fewer Business Lenders – Golf Course and Funeral Home Financing

As a further complication for a difficult business loan for a golf course or funeral home, fewer business lenders are currently willing to offer competitive small business finance terms. There has recently been a noticeable shrinkage in regional and local banks which offer commercial mortgage programs for golf course loans and funeral home loans.

Buy a Business – Business Opportunity Financing

Business financing to buy a business opportunity is a special commercial loan variation in which commercial property is not purchased. In such a situation, the buildings and land are typically subject to a long-term lease. Similar to a conventional mortgage to buy a golf course or funeral home, competitive business opportunity financing is not easy to find.

Avoiding Problematic Commercial Mortgage Terms

Some regional and local banks will probably offer short-term business financing instead of a long-term business loan for golf course financing and funeral home financing. Another key term that can vary significantly is the percentage of value for the commercial financing. It is of critical importance to avoid undesirable commercial loan terms, especially commercial mortgage loan conditions involving length of loan and percentage of value when buying or refinancing a funeral home or golf course business.

Stated Income Business Financing Difficulties

Stated income small business loans (involving minimal or no income verification for the borrower) are not widely available for commercial real estate financing in the current restrictive lending conditions. The use of stated income business financing is not recommended for a funeral home loan or golf course loan, even though a stated income commercial loan has a certain number of benefits when available. A major limitation of a stated income commercial mortgage is the maximum amount which can be financed. A further limitation is the low percentage of value for stated income commercial financing involving either golf course financing or funeral home financing. In other words, a stated income approach to financing funeral homes and golf courses is not recommended even if it were an option.

When Commercial Real Estate Loan Value is Less Than Business Value

For golf course loans and funeral home loans, the commercial real estate loan value is often less than the business value. This is particularly true with a funeral home appraisal. The problem with this disparity is that many business lenders will provide a business loan that includes only the commercial mortgage loan value, and this will produce significantly reduced business financing.

Exorbitant Commercial Loan Fees for Funeral Home and Golf Course Financing

Business owners should be prepared for reasonable business financing fees during the beginning of the business loan process for golf course financing and funeral home financing. Several lenders are taking advantage of the shortage of commercial loan choices for building, purchasing and refinancing a golf course or funeral home. A common tactic is to charge excessive fees of ,000 and more even if the commercial financing is not finished.

Fewer Commercial Lender Options for Funeral Home Loans and Golf Course Loans

As already noted, the availability of suitable lenders for this specialized type of business loan is shrinking. A viable commercial mortgage for funeral home financing or golf course financing will depend upon a prudent choice involving the lender. It is critical to select a lender with the ability to successfully complete the complex business loan process and at the same time avoid the commercial mortgage obstacles described earlier. It is important for a borrower seeking to buy a golf course or funeral home to be prepared in advance for the limited number of acceptable business financing lenders.

One Solution – Business Consulting and Small Business Finance Experts

In complex commercial loan and SBA business loan financing, the use of a small business finance consulting expert should be conducive to a better understanding of difficulties to anticipate. Since funeral home loans and golf course loans are among the more difficult commercial financing situations that a commercial borrower is likely to encounter, the use of preliminary business consulting should be helpful in obtaining better terms and avoiding serious problems.
