CEO Bonnie Copeland

, the Baltimore schools to 1 July 2006. She had been with them for three years, which is a standard for an urban school board. Her departure was not of their choice.

Baltimore school board felt it had a low-key management style and did was not strong enough leaders to make the changes necessary to make the Baltimore school reform. Your argument seems a bit wrong.

have

During her tenure with the Baltimore schools, managed Copeland, a financial and management turnaround, which was of major rating agencies and school systems nationally recognized, and eliminated 1,100 jobs – even though her predecessor, Carmen Russo had the school system into chaos left. Test results were on the rise, and it received high marks for its significant progress in the Baltimore schools in the GBC, a regional top business lobby group. This happened in 2003, after the group’s financial contribution of the Baltimore schools.

Copeland was not without its enemies, but. The Greater Baltimore Committee, entrenched in bureaucracy and complacency was not a fan of Copeland, and they still rule the Baltimore schools. In addition saw the politicians, the Mayor Martin O’Malley wanted to harm the troubled Baltimore schools as the perfect instrument. A political battle between the mayor, Montgomery County Executive Doug Duncan, and Governor Robert Ehrlick followed with Copeland unfairly caught in the middle.

Baltimore school board dealt with Copeland and her staff, day-to-day, so do not perform their job. This type of interference will hamper the next CEO and, when the Baltimore school board comes to its senses.

Copeland took over under terrible circumstances that would have crippled a lesser CEO, but she did much to improve the Baltimore schools. She was the fifth CEO since 1997. The Baltimore schools track record with their CEOs is not good.

The community is frustrated, leaving about Copeland. She has a lot to connect to business people and companies in connection with the Baltimore schools, and they fear they will be swapped. Parents are their children’s future educational opportunities involved.

Loss of a serious reformer for the Baltimore schools makes it difficult for the community to be optimistic for the future. The middle schools and special program schools are still in trouble, too many children are dropping out or are unprepared to work or college in force and the slow progress to ensure that Copeland has now left. It seems that the reform will remain difficult until the board and give opponents a good CEO the opportunity to do his or her work.
