Economy Makes Opportunity

Edit Article |

In this broken economy there are people all across the country and even around the world are feeling the disruption in United States economy. Opinionated analysts also don’t see a sunny ending neither, polls show more and more people only think it will get worse by the facade of low prices and on-sale deals.

Who knew spending money you didn’t actually have would end up badly?

With the roar of the internet becoming even louder during this financial fiasco. Americans are looking more and more for viable opportunities to supplement their current income.

Many businesses online claim, “It’s the best opportunity since slice bread.” while others claim, “You won’t make money faster anywhere else!” The truth is, you should run away from both of these false claims as fast as you possibly can.

Businesses that are made with the average woman and man in mind are one’s structured for the long term. With an ever-changing economy and always evolving industry, networking marketing companies go hot and fresh one second and next year are outdated and useless.

You’ll want to make sure the business you get involved with is made for the long haul. This not only ensures your own success but the success of your team!

That brings another main point. Duplication is key! Many businesses are not set up for the average person but what we call our industry vets, “heavy hitters”. These people can have success in any opportunity regardless if the package is ,300 just to get started or a .99 one time investment.

The point is, many people are doomed before they even start because the requirements of receiving cash are unlikely. Many businesses even have time restrictions and limits you on receiving cash unless you’ve qualified for payment.

The best internet businesses, especially in an fluctuating economy, are built for the average person to succeed. This is ideal for long term growth and gives you and your team more of a chance to succeed.

Lastly, you must be able to withstand the industry and its ups and downs, the frustrating moments where you want to throw your pc across the room, or times when quitting seem all to appealing. These are the instances when you must decide now “Your Big Reason Why”. This will help you stay motivated and give you endurance to do what you know you must instead of taking the easy way out and quitting.

In the end, only you have the success of your future right in your view waiting for you to grasp it. Only you can place the consistent action to make it work and create the lifestyle you deserve!

Recognizing the Opportunity When It Presents Itself

Edit Article |

Tuesday, we were told that Bank America was being forced to repurchase mortgages bundled into a .0-billion bond issue of its Countrywide Financial Corp. division. All financial stocks got whacked on the news, and the Dow Jones Industrials fell 165.07 points.

Rubbish, I say.

Stocks fell for a simple reason: profit-taking. Since the beginning of September, the Dow Jones Industrials has risen 11.4%. After such a quick run-up in stock prices, profit-taking is the norm. In my world, we call it “taking some chips off the table.” Things are good. The media in picking up on the stock market’s best September since the 1930s and the rally that has continued into October. Why not take some profits?

In my opinion, one day doesn’t create a new trend. In this case, it actually presents an opportunity. The Federal Reserve is ready to jump into the financial market to save the economy again with QE2. Corporate earnings have been spectacular this quarter. What else can an investor ask for? Or, should I ask, does it get any better than this?

Same holds for gold bullion. The metal has been up 10 out of the last 11 trading weeks. Tuesday, gold collapsed .00. There’s not one investment, I don’t care what it is, that goes up or down in a straight line. Gold is no exception. The bear market in the U.S. dollar, which began back in 2002, pulled back early this week causing most precious metals to fall.

I see the recent weakness in gold bullion prices as an opportunity. The greatest bull market of this decade is taking a breather, and that spells opportunity for patient and prudent investors in gold-related investments.

I highly doubt we will see ,000 gold again in our lifetime.

This morning, I’m calling my broker to buy more gold-related investments, because I see they are all down in price. The correction in gold bullion prices could bring the metal down another .00 to .00 an ounce, at which point I will be a buyer again, buying on price dips when I can.

I recognize an opportunity when I see one. Right now, investors are being dealt the rare hand of being presented with two deals at one time: Being able to buy both stocks and gold-related investments at discounted prices, as both correct from recent major price advances.

It’s almost comical.

You read the popular financial web sites and the major business newspapers and it is all bad news. Stocks are down. Gold is down. The housing market can only get worse. Wall Street and Joe Investor seem to be in real trouble.

But all of a sudden, a news flash appears: Goldman Sachs has put aside .1 billion in the first nine months of 2010 for its employee “compensation and benefits.” That’s about 0,000 for each employee.

Yes, most retail investors missed out on the stock market rally that started in March 2009. The government bailed out AIG, which was then able to fulfill its obligations under Goldman-Sachs-related insurance policies. Millions of Americans from Miami to California are losing their homes. And you have Goldman Sachs paying those big bonuses again this year.

There’s a huge problem with this picture. And you just have to wonder: who is running Washington? Goldman Sachs?

Stock Market Investing Tips- Important Tip For Information And Stock Tips

Therefore here is an important piece of stock trading advice. Do not chase sudden move stocks. Vital rule to keep in mind. The idea is to buy stocks before movement. Stock prices go up because there are usually large amounts of people buying the stock. A slow, upward trending stock is different than a rapid uptick in cost. Rapid upticks have a tendency to proper very quickly. Or to plummet very fast. Always be suspect of rapid shifts in price.

The Penny Stock Market

The penny stock market is vicious, lucrative, and captivating. The draw for first-time buyers is usually their price, which typically runs well below per share. This financial fluidity means that not only do penny stocks sell OTC (outside of the NASDAQ and similar arenas), but they also trade at lightning speeds. Still, savvy investors can make a pretty penny—no pun intended—if they know what is going on.

The Big Fish, On Fire: Rumblefish CEO Paul Anthony Turns Catastrophe Into Opportunity

Edit Article |

Posted: Nov 09, 2009 |Comments: 0
|

It’s a pretty safe bet that Paul Anthony is the only chief executive in America who commutes to work in a fish, a three-wheeled single-seat electric car customized into a rolling corporate logo. And he’s probably the only CEO in Portland, Oregon, with a mohawk. Actually, it’s more of a fauxhawk, a tuft of brightly dyed red-orange atop his crown that, standing on end, frozen en mousse, suggests a tongue of flame. Which is ironic, given that Anthony’s business, Rumblefish—a “sonic branding” and music marketing company that has achieved national fame by licensing the work of Oregon musicians to Hollywood studios, video-game manufacturers, banks, shoe stores, beer companies and what have you—was gutted by fire one summer morning in 2004.

Weeks after the conflagration, the charred smell of his corporate headquarters still reeked like a freshly doused campfire, the charcoal smell overpowering, eye-watering and almost unbearable. In the middle of the recording studio (or rather, what was left of it), Anthony sat atop an electric organ—its fused plastic keys resembling chunks of melted mozzarella—considering a nearby stack of singed drums leaning as precipitously as the Tower of Pisa. “That was the first new drum set I bought since I was a kid,” said Anthony, then 27, dressed in a black motorcycle tee and jeans, and whose profile suggests a young Keifer Sutherland.

The Big Fish—his official title at the company—was in a bit of a funk. Not only had his HQ been burned to a crisp, but his pride and joy and surefire head-turner, the Fishmobile, a one-seater electric car masquerading as a chubby gray shark, with side-view mirrors for eyebrows rumbling down the road with the percussive force of a howitzer-like subwoofer, also had been out of commission for weeks, languishing in a repair shop in Eugene, awaiting new batteries. It was a day before demolition, and rebuilding. Again.

Earlier that year, Anthony and his ten employees, along with the company’s attorney and board of directors, had closed the business for a top-to-bottom remodel, bolting stainless-steel diamond plate onto the walls and stairs, enlisting a team of graffiti artists to add a bit of color to the concrete floors (“TAKE ME TO YOUR MUSIC”). All told, the makeover had taken nearly a month, at a cost of ,000. Up in smoke.

Anthony had incorporated Rumblefish (then Alcala Entertainment) in 1995, when he was a freshman music major at the University of Oregon, selling classroom compositions to independent filmmakers and licensing the work of his fellow students. Now he represents more than 250 artists from 17 countries (most are local unknowns), and his company supplies music (tens of thousands of titles) to marketing departments at Adidas, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Umpqua Bank (deploying a fleet of Umpqua-branded ice-cream trucks blaring Rumblefish music through the streets of Portland and Arcata, Calif.), as well as background music used in television shows like The Shield and The Sopranos. A day before the fire, Rumblefish had been poised to finish the most profitable quarter in its nine-year history.

That night, Anthony had worked until midnight, helping a young vocalist polish songs for her debut album. She had wanted to work on another track, and he wanted to call it a day, so he told her to lock up and didn’t think twice about the candles burning on the sill of the control-room window. The phone rang in his downtown Portland home at 6:30 in the morning—the alarm company, reporting that a motion sensor had been triggered by the recording studio door, aflame and falling off its hinges. Several minutes later, peering through the plate-glass storefront window, Anthony had assumed the blinds had been drawn. Then he unlocked the door and discovered a chest-high curtain of smoke inside. He dialed 911 on his cell phone, ran into the building and yelled, but nobody was there. He grabbed the fire extinguisher and emptied it in one burst, to no effect. He was just about to dash into the control room to retrieve computer hard drives, the digitized métier of every Rumblefish artist, when a police officer pulled him, screaming, from the building. “You don’t understand! This is my business!”

Anthony just stood there at the curb as one fire truck after another—seven in all, he recalls—arrived, closing off the street. Firefighters in respirators bearing chainsaws, picks and axes climbed onto the roof while others rushed inside pulling hoses. They doused the flames, then paraded out of the building with scorched and melted guitars, amplifiers and drums, which were dumped onto the pavement.

“It was a huge pile of burnt Rumblefish, a smoking heap on the street,” recalls Anthony, who convened an emergency meeting that morning at a nearby pub, first to take roll call and make sure the building had indeed been empty (it had), then to reassure his employees that all had not been lost. True to form, opened the session by establishing an anthem for his own disaster, singing the refrain from Bill Joel’s “We Didn’t Start the Fire” (that summer, the song was No. 1 on Rumblefish’s “Fire of ’04 Playlist”).

“It was terrifying, but one thing I realized is that when things go wrong, all heads look at you,” says Anthony. “That’s how entrepreneurship works. I was telling everybody: The stuff in that building, it’s just stuff. That’s all it is. You don’t need stuff to be a successful business. I started this company in a dorm room with 0 and an idea. How could a fire possibly stop me?”

I P O’s – a Great Investment Opportunity or Sucker’s Bet?

There’s nothing like the seductive allure of buying an IPO at its offering price, riding the

stock up, and then flipping it for a pile of cash. Find the next Microsoft at its inception and you are set for life, right? Pinch yourself….Fantasy Island went off the air decades ago! Public offerings are about companies needing to raise capital for operations or new

projects. They are not a one way ticket to riches for the average investor. In fact, they

make pretty lousy investments for most people, so beware.

IPO Basics

An Initial Public Offering, or IPO, is the first sale of stock by a private company to the public.

IPO’s are often smaller, younger companies seeking capital to expand their business. But,

they can also be established, private companies looking for additional cash infusions.

Companies wanting to go public usually hire investment banks to “underwrite” the process.

Underwriting is the process by which investment bankers raise investment capital from

investors on behalf of corporations and governments that are issuing securities, for both

equity and debt.

The underwriter may put together a consortium of several investment banks and brokers to

distribute the stock for the issuer. The underwriter agrees to pay the stock issuer a certain price for a minimum number of shares, and then must resell those shares to buyers, typically institutional clients of the underwriting firm or to its related brokerage firms. Additionally, each member of the consortium agrees to resell a certain number of shares to its most exclusive clients. For its underwriting and distribution services, the underwriters charge a very handsome fee plus the subsequent commissions for trading the stock.

A “hot IPO” defines an IPO that often rises dramatically above the offering price on the first day. Qualified investors buy them in the hopes of “flipping” them for an even higher profit. An IPO stock at the “release price” is usually not available to most of the public—and that means the average Joe. If the average Joe is getting IPO stock offerings, it’s usually a stock you don’t want anyway.

The Numbers

Investing in a brand new stock is always risky. Sure, as an investor you just might get lucky

and hit a few home runs with an IPO investment. However, you are far more likely to strike

out “at bat” (think Vonage).

Ongoing research by finance professors and IPO experts like Tim Loughran and Jay Ritter

demonstrates that the average return on IPO’s issued between 1970 and 1990 is a mere 5%

annually (median returns might actually be lower). Compare that to the S&P 500 which

produced an annualized return of 10.81% for the same period. According to Jay Ritter,

finance professor at the University of Florida,” the typical IPO lags for up to five years after it comes to market”. Similarly, Ritter and Professor Ivo Welch have concluded that IPO shares perform 23.4% worse than shares of comparable seasoned companies in the first three

years and actually have negative returns in that time period.

According to Richard J. Peterson, chief market strategist for Thomson First Call, over 5,000

companies went public between 1989 and 2000. By 2004, nearly one-third of those companies were down over 50 percent since their stock market debut or out of business. Only one-fifth were worth at least twice their opening day price.

With the odds like that, I can’t imagine why anyone would buy an IPO unless you had money

to burn or hung around with the Trumps or Rockefellers.

But I’ve heard….

People have obviously made money in IPO’s before. You cannot dispute that fact. Think Google. We all know that the va-va-voom market of the nineties made gazillionaires out of several fortunate people.

How? For starters, they probably got the IPO shares early, as close to the original IPO price

as possible. They were either lucky, had close ties to the underwriter or received a “friends

and family” allocation (trust me, “average Joe” investor was not included in that group).

They then had to sell early, timing it just right before the eventual decline of the stock

naturally followed. For every winner, there were a series of losers-someone who bought the

stock as it started to decline then sold to the rest of the suckers that followed. So, yes, opportunities do exist, however it’s not the easy money so often associated with the IPO market. Instead, IPO’s are lucrative for the banks that rake in the commissions and spreads associated with the IPO.

Remember those handsome fees mentioned several paragraphs ago? The IPO “spread” is

the difference between the underwriting price received by the issuing company and the

actual price offered to the public. Those spreads can reach as high as 7%. Therefore an

underwriting consortium selling 0 million worth of shares in an IPO would receive fees

close to .5 million! A nice pay day for the banks if you ask me.

In summary, if you think that buying an IPO is your one way ticket to Trumpville, think again.

Approach the IPO market with a giant degree of skepticism. The little guy can get easily

crushed on this playground. A broadly diversified portfolio of equity index funds can run circles around and IPO driven investment strategy, especially in terms of risk control.

2004 IPO – A Unique Public Offering Trading Opportunity

Edit Article |

The year two thousand and four was a turning point in many different locations of the world in so many various aspects.

Apart from being a leap year in the Gregorian calendar and also the Monkey’s year in the Chinese one, this year was called the International year of the grain of rice by the United Nations; the UNESCO called it the year of abolishing slavery from every part of the planet; and it was called the year of road safety by the world health organization..

So much of significance happened during this year all around the globe. On the New Years day of this year Pervez Musharaff was allowed to be initiated as a dictator in the county of Pakistan until two thousand and seven. Not too far away, the Tsunami struck Asia. A gigantic wave caused a lot of damage, and it was caused by a huge earthquake with its epicenter in the Indian Ocean. Coming to our topic of interest it was predicted in the beginning of this year that over two hundred companies would go public on the stock markets.

By this we mean companies wiling to give out an initial public offering to the public. That would be the first public sale of a company in order to increase its revenues. We often see companies veering towards this strategy only to back out at the last minute thanks to sudden changes in the markets.

This year is considered kind of unique in the stock markets world, as it was predicted to break the two hundred number mark as far as organizations under IPO were concerned. The first nine months alone saw about one hundred and sixty four IPOs being filed. The prediction was made by the gurus of the market on studying the last quarter of the preceding year two thousand and three. A study of the past five years was also used to make this prediction. So it was believed that at least about fifty more companies would file for IPO during the winter months making the total to well over the predicted two hundred.

People were not very surprised then, when finally a number of two hundred and fifty three companies filed for IPO. The net worth in IPO was over forty six billion US dollars, bringing it in comparison to the year nineteen ninety eight where three seventy companies filed for a net worth of around forty four billion.

So, it can be said, in reminiscence, the year two thousand and four wasn’t just a great one for President Bush and President Musharaff Pakistan, we also saw a lot of changes for the better in the stock markets.

Avoid Business Opportunity Investment Financing Mistakes

Edit Article |

By devoting extra caution and time, commercial borrowers can avoid serious business opportunity investment financing mistakes. The most obvious benefit will be to reduce the potential for critical commercial loan problems, both now and throughout the life of the business financing terms arranged.

A key factor that distinguishes business opportunity financing from other forms of business financing is the lack of commercial property ownership. Although the transaction will usually involve a long-term lease agreement, the buyer is acquiring a business that does not include real estate in the purchase price.

The two mistakes described in this article are more typical than expected by most commercial borrowers. While we will not be addressing all possible business opportunity financing problems in this article, we will include two of the most severe issues to anticipate and avoid.

Length of Business Financing -

A common mistake when acquiring a business opportunity is to finance the acquisition with business financing that expires within two to five years. One reason for this occurring is the failure to negotiate a longer-term lease, since it is typical for financing terms to expire with the lease.

A viable solution is to insist on a lease that is at least ten years long. This will facilitate business finance terms that can typically be for a ten-year period. One key factor that limits business opportunity financing to a ten-year period is due to the absence of commercial real estate collateral.

Use of Excessive Seller Financing -

Although nominal seller financing (such as 10-20%) can be helpful to a business financing transaction, attempts to finance either entirely or primarily with seller financing are generally inadvisable. There are several different issues which can result in this being a serious mistake.

If a seller is providing most or all of the business acquisition financing, a formal appraisal might not be obtained. While this appears to offer the advantage of saving the cost of such an appraisal, it also eliminates an important method of determining if the purchase price is appropriate. It is also not uncommon for a seller to have acquired a business appraisal that is used to substantiate the purchase price for the business they are selling. An appraisal financed by the seller is not likely to be an independent business value estimate.

An additional restriction when using excessive seller financing is that it typically will cover a period of three years or less. This will necessitate refinancing within a period that is not always practical to do so. A loan history up to 48 months will be required by some lenders prior to refinancing a business opportunity loan.

Solutions and Strategies for Avoiding Business Opportunity Investment Loan Mistakes -

Business borrowers should thoroughly discuss options with a business financing expert before proceeding with investing and financing programs. These efforts will be worthwhile since the potential business finance mistakes described above can be overcome successfully. Borrowers should seek out advisors capable of providing candid solutions in their efforts to obtain a better picture of complicated business opportunity financing possibilities.

Home> Finance Investment Finance Business Opportunity How to avoid problems How to Avoid Business Opportunity Investment Financing Problems | Posted: 23 June 2008 | Comments: 1 | Views: 325 | it]]> Wed buying a business investment without real estate requires specialized business opportunity financing Although this kind of business financing, there are several potential problems, the expected and should be avoided by interested parties..

To buy a business, a commercial borrower is likely to need business financing. If the deal must include commercial property, the borrower is a commercial mortgage. If the business does not purchase real estate, a company must use a business opportunity loan borrowers.

Explore Upon receipt of a business opportunity loan, borrowers, many lenders simply do not provide business loans to acquire real estate as part of the business. There are several other important business issues of financing of the previous analysis, the acquisition of a company with no commercial property.

The interest in buying a business opportunity investing investment by reducing the activity in residential real estate increased. But because there are so many critical differences between financing residential real estate and corporate financing, it is important for potential entrepreneurs, to continue to educate you before.

This summary is involved in the unique corporate finance requirements if property is not involved here. Our proposed approach to business opportunity financing is down. Scheduled

Potential entrepreneurs should start business opportunity investment financing plans by formulating a realistic assessment of cash available for a down payment and desired maximum purchase price deal. In most scenarios, business financing, a total adjustment of 25% of the purchase price is recommended. Usually seller financing is permissible for a portion of the deposit, but a potential buyer usually has to invest at least 10% or more of the purchase price from their own resources, even if plan to the vendor with 20% or more.

Buyers should evaluate whether a Small Business Administration loans, which is for their unique business financing and investment circumstances. This step is important and somewhat complicated, and the involvement of an SBA loan expert is strongly recommended. To explore the issues are whether collateral for SBA financing is and how important it is to refinance your entire business opportunity financing process.

Buyers should be arranged for early determination of the length of the lease in connection with the purchase of the business. As mentioned previously, business opportunity financing and investment has not the purchase of commercial real estate, so arrangements must be made for a long term lease. The length of the lease is important because the normal business finance terms will be limited to the length of corporate finance for the period from lease (although buyers should expect a ten-year maximum for investment business loans) are covered. For example, with a seven-year lease, the commercial loan is expected for seven years and even with a fifteen-year lease, the commercial operations are expected to expire in ten years.

Although real estate is not included in a business opportunity transaction should buyer examine whether real estate is also a viable option or not to buy a business. With the inclusion of commercial property, you can be a longer business loan and the interest rate is lower. However, it should not improve corporate financing conditions, the only factor, which you’ll see as the lack of a commercial mortgage can prove a significant advantage in a declining real estate market that currently in many areas of the country.

Investors and buyers should now discuss business financing options with a business opportunity loan expert before offering a business investment. These discussions should include issues such as payment options, seller financing potential purchase price, taxes and claims buyers credit scores and collateral options.

As a final precaution, note that in most cases limited the availability of business opportunity financing more than the commercial real estate financing. There are also some problems in a unique business opportunity loans and commercial borrowers should make every effort made to make to avoid these potential business financing complications.

Dow Jones Commodity Index Fund – This index tracks the entire commodity market as a whole. Over the past two years we have seen commodities drop in value substantially. The good news is that we could be seeing prices rise going forward from here.

2009 has been a fantastic year for trading commodities with the market bottoming and starting to move higher. This commodity index clearly shows a Cup & Handle pattern and is looking ready to breakout in the coming weeks. The C & H pattern is the best chart formation we could get. Breakouts from these patterns generally provide a rally which can last months at a time.

Let’s take a look at what kind of opportunity looks to be just around the corner.

Dow Jones Commodity Index Chart – Weekly

Commodities appear to have bottomed and are getting squeezed into the apex of the bullish wedge. This index could easily rally to the 180 level which is about 35-40% Gain.

DJP iPath Commodity Index Fund – Weekly

After reviewing several different commodity index funds I like the characteristics for DJP the most. There is enough volume traded which makes for a smooth trading fund on an intraday basis when looking at the 10 minute chart. Several other funds were choppy and thinly traded.

This is Exciting – Everyone knows how most commodity funds vary from the underlying commodity price, well this fund trades identical to the index. What does this mean? It means we can trade the DJP commodity index fund for short term and long term positions because there isn’t any price decay over time.

Performance Chart of Commodity Index & Fund

This chart goes back almost 2 years. As you can see the % change for the index and the fund are virtually identical. We do not need to worry about Contango with this fund.

Major Commodities Breaking Out or Bottoming

Gold, Crude Oil and Natural Gas are highly traded commodities and will play a large role in the direction of the commodity index.

Gold is breaking out to a new high – Bullish

Crude Oil is consolidating in a bullish wedge – Bullish

Natural Gas is trying to bottom and should move higher into the winter – Bullish

Dow Jones Commodity Index Trading Conclusion:

Money has been moving into the commodity sector since March of this year. As a technical trader this opportunity jumps out at me. I wanted to share it with fellow traders because this could be once of the easiest trades of the year if the index breaks out in the coming weeks.

Broad Market Reversal – Better Hold On To Your Hat!

This had been an exiting week for traders as the equities market was on a verge of a major sell off. Fortunately, we were watching the market very closely and saw the sentiment and market internals shift shortly after a new low was set last week. That was an early warning for us that a trend reversal to the upside could happen at any hour or day this week. Wednesday and Thursday’s rallies were on solid volume and the market internal indicators along with market breadth were strong also. There h

Using Calendar Spreads to Trade Gold

Most market participants are aware that precious metals have been on fire rocketing higher only to consolidate briefly, gap higher, and leave slowly reacting traders in the dust. The parabolic moves in gold and silver have many potential connotations, but great traders respect price action as the final arbiter and adapt. Since the financial crisis began, many traders have evolved into reactionary lemmings.

This week we have a major wild card (Election) happening on Tuesday. Most of you know I don’t get involved with political discussion for several reasons… one of them being that I am Canadian “an outsider” looking in. Lots of theories going around saying higher stock and lower/stable oil prices will give voters the warm fuzzies to keep the current leaders elected… I pr

Weekend SPX, Dollar, Oil and Gold Analysis and Video

Last week was volatile thanks to China raising their interest rates a quarter basis point. This rate hike caused the Dollar to spike in value which in turn forced equities and metals to sell off sharply. This one day event caused equities to break below a short term support level causing a large number of protective stops to be triggered. This added more selling pressure causing the market to be down nearly 2.5% at one point but a late day bounce recouped a good chunk of the drop.
