With manufacturing facilities in Arizona, Indiana and Washington, the Inventure Foods, Inc. (NASDAQ: SNAK) is a marketer and manufacturer of specialty brands in better-for-you and indulgent categories under a variety of Company owned and licensed brand names, including Boulder Canyon Natural Foods ™, Rader Farms(r), T.G.I. Friday’s(r), BURGER KING(tm), Jamba(tm), Poore Brothers(r), Tato Skins(r) and Bob’s Texas Style(r). Since its inception in 1994, Boulder Canyon has challenged the potato chip paradigm with delicious, all-natural kettle cooked chips in several varieties. Retail sales have grown 31% and outpaced the natural potato chip category from 2007-2009, making it the fastest-growing natural kettle chip brand in the United States. Today, the company offers more than 20 unique snack products made with only the freshest all-natural ingredients.

Announced today, Boulder Canyon continues to build its better-for-you snack portfolio by expanding its Totally Natural line of kettle-cooked potato chips this month to add 4 new flavors, including 60% Reduced Sodium, No Salt Added 40% Reduced Fact and Olive Oil varieties. The chips will appear in select grocery stores nationwide this month and will be available in either 5 or 9-ounce bags with a standard retail price of .49-.99 per package.

The Totally Natural 60% Reduced Sodium chips feature a lower-sodium salt that allows Boulder Canyon to retain the same great taste and crunchy decadence of its signature kettle chips, while reducing sodium to a mere 70 mg per serving.

Totally Natural No Salt Added kettle chips contain no added salt, flavorings or preservatives and feature just four items on the ingredients panel, making it perhaps the most natural snack chip on the market today. A rich, pure, potato flavor plays the lead role in this chip that features zero mg of sodium per serving.

The Totally Natural 40% Reduced Fat chips feature 40% less fat than the leading potato chip on the market, allowing Boulder Canyon to retain its signature crunchy taste with significantly less fat.

The Totally Natural Olive Oil chips are kettle cooked in olive oil to feature a rich, nutty blend of olive and potato flavors. These chips contain only 120 mg of sodium—33% less than standard varieties of potato chips

All of Boulder Canyon snacks are 100% all-natural and cooked in sunflower, safflower, or olive oils that are low in saturated fat and rich in essential fatty acids. The snacks feature only natural seasonings and contain no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives. In addition, the new Totally Natural varieties feature 33-100% fewer milligrams (mg) of sodium than the average potato chip without compromising the taste and texture consumers expect from Boulder Canyon.

“From Boulder’s perspective, the answer to today’s consumer interest in ‘better for you’ products isn’t to develop a bland, flavorless potato chip, but to create a new twist to an all-time favorite,” said Steve Sklar, senior vice president of marketing for Boulder Canyon. “We took the same innovative approach to our reduced-sodium products as we do for all of our varieties.  The result is a new line of snacks that is delicious and satisfying, but simply better for you than traditional varieties.”

The Federal Reserve Versus Common Sense

A bubble has started to inflate and once again the Federal Reserve has a direct relationship with it. The markets have soared over the last few months as the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (NYSE:SPY) has gone from 4.50 to a recent high of 5.20. This move has lifted the SPY twenty percent. Behind the move is the Federal Reserve, printing and pumping money into the system to create an asset bubble. As they print, the Dollar declines and in response, all assets must adjust their prices higher.

Expected Pullback after Monday Gap Open

When markets gap around they get natural retracements creating volatility and if you look at a simple 5 day chart you can spot likely retracements. An example is yesterdays gap higher and todays pullback which will likely test the area it gapped from. News becomes irrelevant and pricing takes over as valuation becomes a confusing exercise making it best to trudge through the summer and its earnings quarter.
